I am an IT professional (MSc in Computer Science), educator, entrepreneur, and media creator with more than 30 years of experience across academia, the software industry, higher education, entrepreneurship, and community development. My career can be seen as four distinct but connected paths.
My first career began as an IT expert at the University of Oulu and later in the software industry, working on both domestic and international projects in Oulu and Helsinki. Those years gave me a strong foundation in technical expertise, systems design, and large-scale project work.
Not being the stereotypical “tech nerd,” I moved into my second career as an educator, where I spent over two decades teaching IT. The last 16 of those years were at South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences in Mikkeli. My teaching covered everything from database design and usability to graphic design, social media, and digital marketing. Pedagogy has always been central to me – the ability to make technology understandable, relatable, and useful.
In 2017, I began my third career as an entrepreneur. Through my company, I’ve worked with websites, promotional and marketing videos, drone photography, and 360° virtual tours. My clients include businesses, municipalities, and associations, and projects have taken me across Finland – from Kokkola and Kuusamo to Oulu and Helsinki. Along the way, I’ve also contributed as a journalist for Lestijoki newspaper since 2021.
Today, I am on my fourth career at YritysKannus, where I support SMEs, associations, and rural communities in adopting digitalization and AI. My role is to translate emerging technologies into practical, accessible, and impactful solutions that strengthen local vitality and competitiveness.
I am passionate about combining the possibilities of AI, aerial photography, virtual tours, IT, social media, and marketing. At the same time, philosophy – especially the philosophy of science and ontology – remains close to my heart, providing a deeper framework for understanding AI, technology, knowledge, and human meaning. This unique blend of technical expertise, pedagogy, creativity, and philosophy allows me to approach challenges from multiple perspectives and to build bridges between people, ideas, and innovations.
Outside of work, I am an active community member and enjoy cross-country skiing, running, and road cycling. In the summer, you might even find me on the theater stage.
